EMPROS LINES S.A. HEADQUARTERS, ATHENS GREECE (2000)

EMPROS LINES SHIPPING Co S.A. MAIN OFFICE KIFISIAS AVENUE, MAROUSI.
FACADES RECONSTRUCTION AND MODERNIZATION OF THE OFFICE AREAS.

The old building, initially constructed in 1985, accommodated until recently ELKEPA offices (former Greek Centre for Productivity).
Empros Lines Shipping Co S.A., as the new owner of the property, considered as necessary a complete renovation of the building facades and internal office layouts refurbishment in order to establish the main offices of the company inside the three floors. The building modernization and facilities upgrade would provide the necessary conditions to accommodate a modern company headquarters.
The aggravated environment in the surrounding area and the need to protect the interior office area from the direct radiation, determined the main options of the proposed interventions, which pertain the facades.
These options were:
  • The use of materials for the lining of the front views, which have particularly good behavior in time.
  • The increased and constant thermal insulation of the shell, the reduction of the west openings, the construction of vertical elements for sun protection at the front views and installation of external adjustable horizontal louvers, so that the thermal loads of the building could reduced.
TPA office had undertaken the elaboration of all engineering design studies, as well as the construction supervision of the project.
The project is completed and operates since spring 2000.
