The Consulting Firm Thymio Papayannis and Associates Inc. was commissioned in 2006 by “D. Kalioudakis – M. Roditis SA” for the refurbishment of the existing rooms. The hotel unit was constructed during the ‘80s and consists of a total of 140 rooms:
The basic design aim was the aesthetic and functional upgrade of all the types of rooms of the hotel. The design avoided the repetition of architectural features of the local traditional architectural style and proposed the use of modern materials like glass and stainless steel combined with traditional materials like marble, wood and ceramic tiles in a harmonic manner. Accents of colour can be found in the fabrics and the cladding.
The bathrooms were visually connected with the bedrooms through a glass opening offering light and view to the Vlycha Bay, widening the optical field and offering a sense of pleasure to the visitor.
The lighting, natural and artificial, direct and indirect plays an important role in the emergence of the architecture and creates a sense of calm and relaxation.
